Hi everyone,
Earlier this year I contributed an essay to a zine, “The Celluloid Sling: nine essays on queer sex in cinema”. I wrote about Daniel Day Lewis licking Gordon Warnecke’s neck in My Beautiful Laundrette, which, I wrote “is one of the sexiest moments of anti-fascist resistance and queer desire captured on film”.
The zine is great, edited and put together by Lucy Talbot Allen, with essays about Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Rope, Velvet Goldmine, and more! You can get the zine at this link, either as a PDF or mailed to you as a print copy. All the proceeds go to queer and trans activist and mutual aid orgs!
I’ve included the essay below for my paid subscribers, but even if you subscribe please support the zine and the important work of keeping movies gay!
